Blue Lake School PTO

Blue Lake School has a very active Parent/Teacher Organization. This group works hard to make our school a better place for students, staff, and parents. Our PTO sponsors a variety of activities including, our Halloween Carnival, Spring Fling, student field day, and our eighth grade graduation. PTO has a membership drive at the onset of the school year. Meetings are generally held the 2nd Thursday of each month from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. in room 11. Free childcare is available as part of the ASES program.

Advisory Group

School Site Council

School Site Council (SSC) is an advisory group of ten people (consisting of five parents and five school personnel). The SSC is responsible for developing a school improvement plan, establishing the school improvement budget, periodically assessing the school program, and annually reviewing the implementation of the improvement plan. SSC is advisory in nature and a necessary element in
qualifying for and receiving various funding sources. These funding sources include Title I, Title IV, Economic Impact Aide, and School Improvement Program. Parents serve a two-year term.

  • NetSmartz Workshop - Teaching children what to watch out for online with fun, interactive games, and activities.

  • SafeKids.Com - Guidelines and information on child Internet safety, including information on parental control software. Also at the site are links to child-safe search engines and recommended links for kids.

  • WiredSafety Internet safety, help, and education organization, offering help for law enforcement and victims of cybercrime.

  • Cyber Patrol - A utility that allows parents to manage computer use in their household.

  • Net Nanny - A utility that allows parents to see and control access to websites and block sites they deem inappropriate.

  • Cyber Sitter - Gives parents the ability to limit their children's access to the Internet.

  • GCF Global Learning - Internet Safety Tutorial as well as many other opportunities to learn more about computers.

  • I-SAFE - I-SAFE Inc. is the worldwide leader in Internet safety education. Founded in 1998 and endorsed by the U.S. Congress, i-SAFE is a non-profit foundation dedicated to protecting the online experiences of youth everywhere.
