Welcome to Third Grade

Mrs. Ownbey - Room 3

My name is Deb Ownbey and I have been a teacher at Blue Lake School for 10 years. I have been married for 35 years, raised three sons, and have two amazing granddaughters who call me Mimi. Although teaching has been my passion for the past 20 years, I also enjoy coaching and playing volleyball, creating art, hanging out with sloths, and spending time at the beach. Growing up in Monterey County, the ocean was my backyard. There I would taunt the waves, fly colorful kites, and seek out the most amazing sea shells that I could find.

What to Expect in 3rd Grade: This will be a year to gain new knowledge and skills as your reading and writing improve along the way. We enjoy reading novels and short stories with great characters and story elements. Learning how to write cursive is always an exciting part of our year. Studying the biomes, wildlife, and geography of California, learning cool math facts, and taking a field trip to the Trees of Mystery are just a few of the things that make third grade in our classroom the best year ever!

Most of all, we look forward to countless learning experiences that are engaging and filled with wonderment and awe. Thank you for joining us on this educational journey!
